The "Why"

Why? 

Why have faith?

Why bother? 

In today's world, all that seems to be on display, all that "sells" is hate and violence. You can't seem to turn the news on anymore without hearing about the latest shooting, the latest protest turned mob, or the latest terrible policy signed by the latest terrible president. In my little teaching world, in a little country town, a majority of the students that pass through my doors don't even have a mom or dad. A good portion of the people in my community struggle to put food on the table - and are judged harshly when they actually seek out support. So WHY? Why even bother to shine light in a world that seems so hell-bent on hiding it? 

Because this.

Matthew 5:16 - Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. 

John 8:12 - Then spake Jesus unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

As Christians, we are called to shine light. We are called to share the light that Christ gives with others. So here I am. In all my messy, Jesus-loving glory.
